I use Midjourney for a few years now and there is one thing I still struggle with a lot. I want to control the color palette from a reference image without the model copying everything else like composition, style, or subject. For example, let’s say I have a fantasy image with a color palette I really love, for example it uses a strong two color scheme. I only want those colors and maybe the texture feel, but I want to apply them to something totally different, like a brutalist environment.
The problem is no matter what I try, like using sref or moodboards, it still pulls in other elements from the reference. Even when I clearly describe a brutalist scene and reinforce the colors in the prompt, it ends up inconsistent or starts copying unwanted stuff from the reference.
Do you guys have any reliable workflow for this? something directly inside Midjourney or even through Photoshop or another tool to extract and apply color palettes cleanly? As I said, I am just trying to isolate color influence without everything else bleeding in.
