The mighty Niagara by Kingshuk Bose
We spent a better part of this week traveling between Providence, Rhode Island and Cleveland, Ohio, to pick up our son at the end of his first year in college. The drive on Interstate 90 West is usually quite relaxed (except in the winter), and we decided to stop at a few places along the way. A short detour from the highway near the Buffalo, New York area took us to the famous Niagara Falls. For the most part we strolled along the grounds adjacent to the Falls on the American side. We were sad to see the approaches to the iconic Rainbow bridge, that runs over the Niagara river and takes one to the Canadian side and back, completely barricaded -- sign of the difficult times we’re all going through. It is hard to photograph such an iconic site -- especially given that we were there mostly during daylight hours and had to leave before dusk set in. Also, the view of the Falls is somewhat restricted on the American side. You really need to go to the Canadian side to see Niagara in all its splendor and glory! That would have to wait. This photo is a close-up of the American Falls. I will try to share a wider view in a later post. I wish my 500px friends a healthy and happy week ahead!
