Memories by Toine van Steen

Memories. This is what this coffee grinder means to me. My grandmother always held the coffee grinder between her knees and then she started spinning. And a kettle was already simmering on the wood-fired stove for the coffee. When I think about this, that smell comes back. It was a good time for me, and happiness was still normal then. We were happy with what we had and didn't care about what we wanted but didn't have. Grandma always said, "You can do something with what you have, nothing at all with what you want." Past weeks have not been so much fun here. My youngest son tested positive for covid 19. He and his family had to stay indoors. He has two small children, our grandchildren, so we worried about that too. And his wife, but they all stayed free of this terrible virus. Then my computer still broke, so wait again for the new one. This was not important, but it was annoying. But peace has returned. And when I look at the photo of this coffee grinder, I still get a warm feeling inside. Thank you for stopping by to look at my work. I wish you a very nice weekend. Take care of yourself and your loved one. And stay safe.
