Interstellar Journey by Vitor Ferreira
The weekend I spent two days (18-19 Jul) taking photos of comet Neowise in Pitões das Júnias, Gerês (Portugal), on the first day I tried to photograph the comet, it didn't go so well. Due to the smoke from the fires and the location that was planned, I did not find any composition that I liked. I left the place a little disappointed and walked around the area exploring a little more until almost sunset and there was no hope, the smoke from the fires were covering the horizon, so it would be very difficult to photograph Neowise with the landscape included. On the way to the car and already at dusk, I started looking in the direction of Neowise to see if I could detect it, I took the camera with my 18-140 mm and I did some test photos and there it was! I was immediately more excited and tried to see If there were any elements in the landscape to include with Neowise. Near where I left the car, there were many trees in isolated groups and I ran to that location. After some time into the night, I was able to saw the comet Neowise perfectly with the naked eye and also the Milky Way on the opposite side and the smoke from the fires was no longer visible, but I didn't know if it was because I couldn't see the smokes or if they weren't present anymore, but what's important, is that I was able to photograph the comet relatively easily.
